Structure
The fascia of the infrahyoid muscles surrounds the infrahyoid muscles in the anterior neck. It surrounds the infrahyoid muscles individually, with the sternohyoid and omohyoid muscles located in a superficial layer and sternothyroid enclosed within a deeper layer (Standring, 2016).
Function
The infrahyoid fascia allows for smooth movement of the infrahyoid muscles and surrounding structures during deglutition.
