Description
There are two layers of fascia in the lateral aspect of the head, the superficial temporoparietal fascia and the deep temporal fascia. The temporalis muscle lies between the two. The epicranial aponeurosis blends superiorly with the temporal fascia, which in turn is continuous posteriorly with the superficial fascia of the neck.
In the face, there are three planes of fascia; most superficially is the subcutaneous fibroadipose tissue and the superficial musculo-aponeurotic system; parotid-masseteric fascia is situated deeply.
