Anatomical Relations

The tendons of the tibialis posterior, flexor digitorum, and flexor hallucis muscles, as well as the posterior tibial vessels and tibial nerve, pass deep to the flexor retinaculum of the ankle.

Function

The flexor retinaculum of the ankle retains the tendons of the tibialis posterior, flexor digitorum, and flexor hallucis muscles in place, thus, preventing subluxation.
