Anatomical Relations

The piriformis fascia lies over the pelvic surface of the piriformis muscle. It is attached to the periosteum on the front of the sacrum at the margins of the anterior sacral foramina and is continuous with the obturator fascia laterally. The anterior rami of the sacral nerves lie within the piriformis fascia, while the internal iliac vessels lie over it.
