Description

The rectosacral fascia, also referred to as a singular posterior rectal ligament, attaches the mesorectum and the rectum itself to the parietal pelvic fascia, including fascia lining the sacrum. This fascia is thought to mark the border between the superior and inferior portions of the retrorectal space (García-Armengol et al., 2008).
