Anatomical Relations

Superiorly, the temporal fascia is continuous with the epicranial fascia. It runs posteroinferiorly to the temporalis muscle to insert onto the medial margin of the zygomatic arch. Inferiorly, this layer combines with the temporoparietal fascia to become the parotid-masseteric fascia (Stecco & Hammer, 2014).

Function

The temporal fascia protects the neurovasculature traveling with the temporalis muscle.
