Quick Facts
Location: Accompany the inferior phrenic arteries inferior to the diaphragm.
Drainage: Diaphragm, diaphragmatic pleura, diaphragmatic peritoneum, and abdominal esophagus.
Direction of Flow: Thoracic duct directly or via the uppermost lumbar nodes.
Description:
Description: (Location & Drainage)
The inferior diaphragmatic nodes belong to the parietal abdominal lymph nodes. The left and right lumbar and inferior epigastric nodes make up the remainder of this group.
The inferior diaphragmatic nodes form clusters of one to three nodes adjacent to the inferior phrenic arteries (Földi et al., 2012). Their afferent vessels receive lymph from the diaphragm, diaphragmatic pleura, diaphragmatic peritoneum, and abdominal esophagus, while their efferent vessels drain into the abdominal part of the thoracic duct and the uppermost lumbar nodes (Földi et al., 2012).
