Description:
Description: (Location & Drainage)
The superior anorectal lymph vessels run along the superior anorectal artery in the mesorectum. The afferent superior anorectal lymph vessels are responsible for the drainage of lymph from the recto-sigmoid region and the upper part of the rectum. They are also interconnected with the pararectal lymph vessels, which drain lymph from the inferior two thirds of the rectum.
The efferent superior anorectal lymph vessels carry lymph to the inferior mesenteric lymph nodes, which drain into the cisterna chyli via the preaortic lymph nodes and the intestinal trunk, and the lateral aortic nodes and the left lumbar trunk.
