Description

The muscles of the abdomen include those that significantly contribute to the formation of the anterior, lateral, and posterior abdominal walls. These muscles flex, extend, laterally flex and rotate the trunk, and provide support to the structures of the abdomen.

The muscles of the abdomen consist of the:

- external abdominal oblique;

- internal abdominal oblique;

- transversus abdominis;

- rectus abdominis;

- pyramidalis;

- quadratus lumborum.
