Description

The rotator cuff muscles are a group of muscles of the upper limb. They work together to stabilize the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint by holding the head of the humerus in the glenoid fossa of the scapula during its movements. The rotator cuff muscles consist of the:

- supraspinatus;

- infraspinatus

- teres minor;

- subscapularis.

These muscles are collectively known as the rotator cuff muscles due to their close relationship with the glenohumeral joint and are remembered by using the acronym “SITS.”
