These prominences are at the expanded superior end of the gracile fasciculus on the posterior side of the medulla. The neurons contained within the gracile nucleus form the tubercle. It corresponds to the position of the gracile nucleus, which is a dorsal column nucleus that carries sensation of fine touch and proprioception of the lower body.
