The aqueduct of midbrain (aka aqueduct of mesencephalon, cerebral aqueduct, or aqueduct of Sylvius) is a short passage extending from the third ventricle to the fourth ventricle, allowing for the drainage of cerebrospinal fluid from the third ventricle to the fourth ventricle.
