The precentral gyrus (aka anterior central gyrus) is an area located anterior to the postcentral gyrus and is separated from it by the central sulcus. It is bounded anteriorly by the precentral sulcus, posteriorly by the central sulcus and inferiorly by the lateral fissure. The primary motor cortex is located in the dorsal part of this gyrus and the anterior portion of the central sulcus.
