Quick Facts

The third ventricle (aka third cerebral ventricle) makes up the narrow, midline cavity of the ventricular system. It is bordered by the thalamus and hypothalamus, and narrows posteroinferiorly to form the cerebral aqueduct. It is connected to the paired lateral ventricles via the interventricular foramina and the fourth ventricle via the cerebral aqueduct.

The interthalamic adhesion is located on the third ventricle and connects the left and right thalamus.
