Origin

The posterior internodal tract emerges from the posterior surface of the sinuatrial (SA) node.

Course

The posterior internodal tract runs down the posterior surface of the right atrium towards the atrioventricular (AV) node.

Branches

The posterior internodal tract runs to the AV node and has no named branches.

Supplied Structures & Function

The posterior internodal tract serves to transmit the SA node action potential to the AV node at the base of the right atrium (Katz, 2010, Anderson et al., 2009).
