Origin

The posterior scrotal nerves are the two terminal branches of the perineal nerve, which is itself a branch of the pudendal nerve.

The posterior scrotal nerves are synonymous with the posterior labial nerve in the female.

Course

The posterior scrotal nerves run from their origin at the anterior terminus of the pudendal canal medially and superficially to the skin of the posterior scrotum.

Branches

The posterior scrotal nerves, typically two in number, are terminal nerves that end at their target tissues.

Supplied Structures

The posterior scrotal nerves convey somatic sensory innervation from skin of the posterior scrotum (Moore, Dalley and Agur, 2013).
