Description

The spinal (dorsal root) ganglia of the five sacral nerves are sensory ganglia. They are located at the distal ends of the posterior roots of each sacral nerve.

They contain the cell bodies of afferent nerve fibers, which convey sensory signals (such as touch, temperature, and pain) from the body to the central nervous system.
