The spinal ganglion of the third sacral nerve is the swelling of the posterior root of the third sacral nerve. It is located just medial to the split of anterior and posterior roots and is generally in, or just medial, to the third sacral foramen.
This ganglion contains cell bodies of the somatic sensory afferents carrying information towards the spinal cord from the skin of the genitals (labia and clitoris), medial buttocks, and perianal region.
