Origin
The stylopharyngeus branch of glossopharyngeal nerve is a terminal branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve. It originates as a branch of the main trunk of the glossopharyngeal nerve as it passes laterally and down along the stylopharyngeus.

From its origin, the stylopharyngeus branch of glossopharyngeal nerve quickly penetrates the stylopharyngeus muscle.
