Structure and/or Key Feature(s)

As epithelial cells within the follicle continue to proliferate, stromal cells immediately external and adjacent to the basement membrane form a connective tissue sheath called the follicular theca. The theca eventually differentiates into the theca interna and the theca externa (Ross and Pawlina, 2006).

Anatomical Relations

The follicular theca surrounding the developing follicle.
