Structure and/or Key Feature(s)

The parietal layer of the glomerular (Bowman’s) capsule contains a simple squamous epithelium (Ovalle, Nahirney and Netter, 2013).

Anatomical Relations

Parietal epithelial cells of the glomerular capsule form the parietal layer of the glomerular capsule. At the urinary pole of the renal corpuscle, the squamous parietal epithelial cells abruptly transition to cuboidal epithelial cells of the proximal convoluted tubule.
