Structure

The apical segmental bronchus (B1) is one of three segmental bronchi that arise from the right superior lobar bronchus. The others include the posterior and anterior segmental bronchi. It passes superolaterally towards the apex of the right lung and terminates by dividing into apical and anterior branches. The apical segmental bronchus provides an airway to the apical bronchopulmonary segment (S1) of the superior lobe of the right lung.
