Structure

The middle lobar bronchus provides an airway for the entire middle lobe of the right lung. It arises as a branch of the bronchus intermedius, a continuation of the right main bronchus. It passes anterolaterally to enter the middle lobe of the right lung. The middle lobar bronchus divides into the medial and lateral segmental bronchi, thus, providing each bronchopulmonary segment of the middle lobe of the right lung with an airway.
