Structure
The diaphragmatic pleura is molded into the domed shape of the diaphragm and lines the majority of the superior aspect of the respiratory diaphragm.
Anatomical Relations
Laterally, the diaphragmatic pleura is continuous with the costal pleura at the costodiaphragmatic pleural reflection, while medially, it is continuous with the mediastinal pleura. It is tethered to the central dome of the diaphragm along with the outer, parietal layer of pericardium.

Parietal Pleura
The mediastinum is the central thoracic space bounded laterally by the right and left parietal pleura, anteriorly by the sternum, posteriorly by the vertebral bodies to include the transverse processes, superiorly by the thoracic inlet, and inferiorly by the diaphragm.
