Structure
The cricothyroid joint is covered by a synovial capsule and joins the inferior horn of the thyroid cartilage and the facet on the cricoid cartilage. The capsule has a ligamentous component that serves to strengthen the articulation. The capsule is also quite elastic which aids in movement.
