Description

The laryngeal skeleton consists of cartilages connected by membranes and ligaments.

There are three unpaired cartilages:

- epiglottis;

- thyroid cartilage;

- cricoid cartilage.

Additionally, there are three paired cartilages:

- arytenoid cartilages;

- cuneiform cartilages;

- corniculate cartilages.

The triticeal cartilage is an additional portion of cartilage that may be present within the free posterior margins of the thyrohyoid membrane.
