Description

The anatomical neck of humerus is the short, constricted part of the bone that connects the head and body of the humerus. It is formed by a shallow groove, which encircles the head of the humerus.

The anatomical neck of humerus separates the head from the greater and lesser tubercles. It provides an attachment site for the capsule of the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.
