Description

The anterior gluteal line is a curved ridge found along the gluteal surface of ilium. It is the longest of the three gluteal lines, the other two being the posterior and inferior gluteal lines. It begins at a point along the iliac crest that lies anterior to the iliac tubercle, and then travels in a posteroinferior direction, curving greatly to end at the greater sciatic notch.

The region between the anterior and inferior gluteal lines provides an origin site for the gluteus minimus muscle, while the region between the anterior and posterior gluteal lines provides an origin site for the gluteus medius muscle.
