Description

The anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS) is the thick, rough process found along the anterior border of ilium. It is located between the anterior superior iliac spine and the acetabulum.

The anterior inferior iliac spine provides origin sites for the rectus femoris muscle, as well as an attachment site for the iliofemoral ligament.
