Description

The anterior surface of radius is the concave area on the frontal aspect of the body of the radius. It is one of the three surfaces of the body of the radius, the other two being the posterior and lateral surfaces. It is an area that is bounded:

—anterolaterally, by the anterior border of radius;

—medially, by the interosseous border of radius.

The anterior surface of radius contains the nutrient foramen. It also provides origin sites for the flexor pollicis longus and flexor digitorum superficialis muscles, as well as an insertion site for the pronator quadratus muscle.
