Description

The articular facet of lateral condyle of femur is the smooth, convex area found on the anterior, inferior and posterior aspects of the lateral condyle. It is continuous medially with both the patellar surface and intercondylar fossa of femur.

The articular facet of lateral condyle of femur articulates with the articular facet of lateral condyle of tibia, via the lateral meniscus, forming the lateral femorotibial joint. Overall, the lateral femorotibial, medial femorotibial and patellofemoral joints collectively form the knee joint.
