Description

The body (shaft) is the short, thin, tubular part of the distal phalanx of the middle finger. It is located between its head and base, gradually tapers in the distal direction, and consists of a flat palmar surface, and a smooth, convex dorsal surface.

The body of the distal phalanx of the middle finger provides attachment sites for the fibrous sheaths of the digits of hand.
