Description

The body (shaft) of fifth metacarpal bone is the short, thin, tubular part of the bone. It is located between the head and base of the fifth metacarpal bone. It consists of medial and lateral surfaces, provides origin sites for the third palmar and fourth dorsal interossei muscles of hand, and provides an insertion site for the opponens digiti minimi muscle of hand.
