Description

The body (shaft) of fifth metatarsal bone is the short, thin, tubular part of the bone. It is located between the head and base of the fifth metatarsal bone. It consists of medial and lateral surfaces and provides origin sites for the fourth dorsal and third plantar interossei muscles of the foot and an insertion site for the fibularis tertius muscle.
