The body (shaft) of fourth metacarpal bone is the short, thin, tubular part of the bone. It is located between the head and base of the fourth metacarpal bone. It consists of medial and lateral surfaces and provides origin sites for the third and fourth dorsal and second palmar interossei muscles of hand.
