Description

The body (shaft) of humerus is the long, tubular part of the bone. It is continuous superiorly with the anatomical neck of the humerus, and continuous inferiorly with the condyle of the humerus. Its proximal half is cylindrical, while its distal expands in both the medial and lateral directions, forming a more triangular cross-sectional shape.

The body of humerus consists of:

—three surfaces (anteromedial, anterolateral, and posterior);

—five borders (anterior, medial and lateral border, and the medial and lateral supracondylar ridges).
