Description

The body (shaft) is the short, thin, tubular part of the middle phalanx of little (fifth) toe. It is located between its head and base and consists of a concave plantar surface, and a smooth, flat dorsal surface. It provides an insertion site for the flexor digitorum brevis muscle.
