Description

The body of talus is the expanded, quadrilateral, posterior part of the bone. It is the proximal continuation of its neck and contains the trochlea, medial and lateral malleolar facets, posterior calcaneal facet, and the lateral and posterior processes. It provides attachment sites for the:

—medial, lateral and posterior talocalcaneal ligaments;

—talocalcaneal interosseous ligament;

—posterior talofibular ligament;

—posterior tibiotalar part of medial collateral ligament of ankle joint.
