Description

The body (shaft) of tibia is the long, tubular part of the bone. It is located between the proximal and distal parts of the tibia. It is narrowest at the junction between its middle and distal thirds and expands both proximally and distally from this area.

The body of tibia is triangular in cross-section, and consists of:

—three surfaces (medial, lateral and posterior);

—three borders (anterior, medial and interosseous).
