Description

The bones of the foot are one of the two groups of bones of the free part of the upper limb, the other group being the bones of the thigh and leg.

For classification purposes, the bones of the foot can be arbitrarily divided into three groups:

- tarsal bones;

- metatarsal bones;

- phalanges of foot.

Besides these bones, there are additional sesamoid bones found within the tendons of the foot.
