Description

The bones of the hand are one of the two groups of bones of the free part of the upper limb, the other group being the bones of the arm and forearm. For classification purposes, the bones of the hand can be arbitrarily divided into three groups:

- carpal bones;

- metacarpal bones;

- phalanges of hand.

Besides these bones, there are additional sesamoid bones found within the tendons of the hand.
