Description
The capitulum (capitellum) is the smooth, convex projection found on the inferolateral aspect of the condyle of the humerus. It is the lateral of the two articular projections located at the distal end of the condyle of the humerus, the other being the trochlea of the humerus. These two articular projections are separated from each other by a shallow groove.
The capitulum articulates with the head of the radius, forming the humeroradial joint, thus contributing to the formation of the elbow joint.
