Description

The costal surface (anterior or ventral surface) of scapula is the concave area on the anterior aspect of the bone. It is one of the two surfaces of the scapula, the other being the dorsal surface.

Most of the costal surface of scapula is occupied by the subscapular fossa, which provides an origin site for the subscapularis muscle.
