The distal articular facet of first metatarsal bone is the convex, anterior area of its head. It is continuous with the grooves for the sesamoid bones, which are found on the plantar aspect of the head of first metatarsal bone.

It articulates with the proximal articular facet found on the proximal phalanx of the great toe, forming the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
