The distal articular surface (anterior surface) is the oval, anterior area of the cuboid bone. It’s one of the six surfaces of the cuboid bone, the other five being the plantar, dorsal, medial and lateral surfaces, and the proximal articular surface.
The distal articular surface of cuboid bone contains the fourth and fifth metatarsal articular facets.

The os peroneum is a rounded accessory ossicle found within the substance of the peroneus longus tendon, which forms a sling around the cuboid as it travels to its insertion on the plantar midfoot and is located just lateral to the cuboid bone.
