Description

The external surface (anterior surface) is the rough area on the outer aspect of the ramus of ischium. It is one of the two surfaces of the ramus of ischium, the other being the internal surface, and is an area that is bounded by the superior and inferior borders of the ramus of ischium. Its anteromedial end is continuous with the external surface of inferior pubic ramus, while its posterolateral end is continuous with the femoral surface of body of ischium.

The external surface of ramus of ischium provides origin sites for the adductor magnus and obturator externus muscles.
