Description

The femoral surface is the area on the anterior aspect of the body of ischium. It is one of the three surfaces of the body of ischium, the other two being the dorsal and pelvic surfaces, and it is an area that is bounded:

—superiorly, by the acetabular margin;

—posteriorly and inferiorly, by the lateral border of body of ischium;

—anterosuperiorly, by the anterior border of body of ischium.

Its anteroinferior end is continuous with the external surface of ramus of ischium.

The femoral surface of body of ischium provides an origin site for the quadratus femoris muscle.
