Read moreDescription
The head is the expanded, pulley-shaped, distal end of the middle (intermediate) phalanx of the middle finger. It is the distal continuation of its body and contains a distal articular facet, which articulates with the articular facet of the distal phalanx of the middle finger, forming the distal interphalangeal joint of the middle finger.
The head of the middle phalanx of the middle finger provides attachment sites for the collateral, accessory collateral, and palmar ligaments of the distal interphalangeal joint of the middle finger.
