Read moreDescription
The head is the expanded, pulley-shaped, distal end of the proximal phalanx of the middle finger. It is the distal continuation of its body and contains a distal articular facet, which articulates with the proximal articular facet of the middle phalanx of the middle finger, forming the proximal interphalangeal joint of the middle finger.
The head of the proximal phalanx of the middle finger provides attachment sites for the collateral, accessory collateral, and palmar ligaments of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the middle finger.
