Description

The head of radius is the disc shaped, expanded portion on the proximal part of the bone. It is the superior continuation of the neck of the radius. It contains two articular areas:

—the articular circumference of head of radius, which articulates with the radial notch of ulna, forming the proximal radioulnar joint;

—the articular facet of head of radius, which articulates with the capitulum of humerus, forming the humeroradial joint.

Both of these joints contribute to the formation of the elbow joint.
